2018 REVIEW

2018 Waterman Eco-Challenge has raised $6,000 for the Janice Causey Memorial Art Scholarship!

The 8th Annual Waterman Eco-Challenge, in honor of Janice ‘Mama C’ Causey, was an incredible day!

What a day! The weather cooperated and gave us bright sunshine, a calm swim, some fun surf for the paddle finish and just enough wind to make the 3 mile paddle a fun challenge! The vendor village was fun and dynamic and we had a great showing from our Environmental tents.

I cant thank you all enough for your being part of this day, making it what it is by getting out on the water with us! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Thank you to Nuts’n More as our co presenting sponsor and to all our corporate sponsors!

Waterman Eco-Challenge 2018 broke participation records - 159 swimmers and 94 paddlers and 10 lifeguard kayakers - 263 competitors!! Amazing to see the Liquid Space youth team out there crushing the mile swim, these kids rock!

Together we raised $6,000.00 for the Janice ‘Mama C’ Causey Memorial Art Scholarship!! Narragansett High School Graduate and 2018 Scholarship Recipient Shannon McNeiece was on site helping out at the Mama C tent :) Huge thank you to Narragansett Town Beach, Mike Florio & the Narragansett Surf Rescue team for coordinating all the ocean safety - so much goes into the planning and execution. Special thanks to Joe Vingi, Dave Pezzullo our emergency response chiefs & Master of Ceremony Morgan Parker for all their work! Huge thanks to the whole Raw Elements team and all of our volunteers! Big shot out to Tripp Burman, our resident in water photographer for capturing the day flawlessly! Gallery here: Waterman Eco-Challenge 2018 Enjoy! Video recap by Kettlebottom Outfitters to come!

I truly love this community and to see this event grow from 38 competitors in 2011 to 263 in 2018 and experience all the excitement and unreal feedback from everyone - its incredibly rewarding to say the least.  Knowing that we are able to work with the Causey family to continue to support and provide art scholarships to young students in Mama C’s name feels like a gift to me that Im grateful to be a part of. Thanks to all of you for being a huge part of that.

Thank you to everyone for making this event so incredible for our community, I am truly grateful to be able to have a part in making it all come together!
We hope to see you again next year and that you bring some new friends to join us!
